Toshihiko Hirooka

was born in Osaka, Japan on December 9, 1974. He received the Ph.D. degree in electronics and information systems engineering from Osaka University, Osaka, Japan in 2000. From 2000 to 2002, he was a research associate at Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Colorado at Boulder, CO. He is currently a professor at Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. His research interests include nonlinear optics and fiber-optic communications.

Dr. Hirooka is a member of Optical Society of America (OSA), IEEE, Insititute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) of Japan, and Laser Society of Japan.
